BRITT Expansion of Highway 53 north of the Hwy. 53-Hwy. 169 interchange in Britt from two lanes to four is going on as good as we can expect, according to Minnesota Department of Transportation district spokesman John Bray.
Paving of the current segment being worked on will start the week of Sept. 24, and is expected to go up to at least as far as County Road 131 this season, he said.
Were on target and within budget, Bray said of the 11-mile segment. Were getting up to the Rice River.
The current 11-mile segment of four-lane expansion is being done under a $29.9 million contract with KGM Contractors of Angora, with the next segment of about nine miles expected to start in 2010, and be finished up to Cook by 2012. I think theyll (KGM) be all done by the end of next construction season, he said of the work to the Rice River.
