BANGALORE/NEW DELHI: AV Birla Group's retail juggernaut is rolling on. This time it is hitting the high street with a specialty men's store by next year. The group company Madura Garments is working on a project code named MLS that will unveil a super premium chain for the evolved men. So even if glitzy malls are mushrooming up in the Indian terrain, the hegemony of high street fashion is all set to upsurge. The large format stores ranging between 10,000-15,000 sq ft will stock mostly international brands across fashion and accessories business, and could roll out during fall-winter 2008. AVB Group business director (textiles & apparels) Vikram Rao told ET: "We are working on this specialty retail project, and are hopeful of bringing it to market by next year. We have roped in George Santacruz, former president of Tommy Hilfiger Bahamas, for spearheading the project." Madura could enter into new licensing deal for international brands or facilitate brands already operating in India to be part of the project.
