Probably one of the worst things anyone can ever do, especially if they make it big is forget their roots - where they came from. This is the one thing that has kept White County Agricultural Fair the success it has been, or ever will be, because while others have tried to escape their country roots, White County proudly proclaims theirs for all to see. White County Agricultural Fair is also among only a handful of state and county fairs that are considered the oldest in the State of Tennessee. State records have shown, according to the publication White County-200 Years in the Making, back in 1855, White County held its first county fair, as did Gibson County in Trenton, Tenn., while Jackson, Tenn., held its first ever West Tennessee State Fair. The following year, 1856, saw the DeKalb County Fair first established in Alexandria, while Memphis added the Mid-South Fair.
