Collier County water monitors warned this morning that discolored water is possible at beaches this weekend because of a combination of onshore winds and an offshore algae bloom. An algae bloom extending from Charlotte County to Collier County is associated with a non-toxic blue-green algae called Trichodesmium, according to tests by the state's Fish and Wildlife Research Institute in St. Petersburg. .
