Coonoor(TN), Sept 20: The administration of Kodanadu Estate in Nilgiris district, has been asked to open the gates restricting the public to use the road through it, within 24 hours, failing of which the authorities would demolish them.
An order to this effect was issued by the Assistant Collector Kunal, after holding an enquiry into the complaints by the residents of Anna Nagar and Kamaraj Nagar and also Kodanadu panchayat chief, Pondous.
They had alleged that the Estate has put up a gate blocking their movement and also vehicular traffic and toll was collected for entry.
The notice would be served on the Estate this evening and would be pasted on the wall, if it refused to accept it, official sources said.
The estate is jointly owned by former chief minister Jayalalithaa and her friend Sasikala and a building on the premises is facing a demolition threat, after the panchayat alleged that it was an illegal construction.
